Season ticket prices frozen at Blackburn Rovers
5:50am Thursday 22nd March 2012 in Sport
Blackburn Rovers have once again left Premier League rivals trailing in their wake in terms of offering their fans value for money - with the Ewood faithful able to watch football next season for less than £12 per game.
Rovers will today announce their decision to freeze Early Bird season ticket prices for 2012-13, as owners Venky’s continue efforts to ensure Ewood Park is one of the cheapest places in the country to watch league football.
- Download the stadium plan here: STADIUM PLAN A5 - 2012.pdf
With an adult seat available again for £225 in the Ronnie Clayton Blackburn End and Riverside stands, Rovers’ prices are expected to again beat all other Premier League clubs, as well as offering a cheaper standard season ticket than the majority of Football League clubs.
League Two Swindon Town’s cheapest season ticket price for next season is £320, Walsall supporters would have to fork out £290, while Norwich City fans will have to pay £509 to watch their heroes next campaign.
Most clubs still have to unveil their pricing policy for next season but it is unlikely anywhere in the country will match the value for money on offer at Ewood Park.
Season tickets went on sale today and existing season ticket holders and new applicants have until April 30 to buy at the Early Bird rate.
Under 16s cheapest tickets are priced at £85, which works out at less than £4.50 per game.
The club will also continue to offer the 16-game season ticket in the WEC Darwen End for £165, with fans opting for all 19 games in that stand able to relocate for the three extra matches.
Deputy chief executive Paul Hunt, said: “We fully acknowledge that these are tough financial times and our aim is to make supporting Rovers as affordable as we possibly can.
“Our owners are totally committed to this policy and we are delighted to be able to keep Early Bird season ticket prices for 2012-13 at this season’s level.
“It has been a challenging season, on and off the field, but we believe that freezing prices not only rewards loyal support but will also help encourage many more people to sign up.
“No-one can argue that the season ticket package is anything other than tremendous value but, to get it to work - emotionally and financially - we now need the people of the area to get right behind us and swell our numbers.”
Blackburn Rovers fan Mark Reynolds, 25, from Oswaldtwistle, has hailed the club’s efforts to keep prices affordable for supporters.
He said: “It is a great effort from all concerned. We know there are issues around the owners but they can’t be criticised for this.
“It will be interesting to see whether there is a big take up on this but I hope it does help in bringing fans back to Ewood Park.”
Former Rovers striker Simon Garner, said: “It is very good and hopefully it will encourage a few more people to come back to the club.
“Football is too dear these days and other clubs should look at what Rovers have done and follow suit. Results are the big driving factor but prices like this can only help.”
Season tickets can be purchased at any of the following outlets: Roverstore Ewood, Oneroverstore Blackburn town centre, via www.onerovers.co.uk, by post, by phone on 08712221444.
Payments can be spread over 10 months with Season Ticket Finance and you can pick up an application form from Roverstore/Oneroverstore.

Retain our best players;
Buy (or replace) some players with experience of playing and winning at the highest level.
Unfortunately, most suspect it will be a case of the same as the last two seasons for a third season.
A good attempt at an "Early Bird" bribe but let's see how we're looking at the end of August and whether we have two home defeats on the bounce to look forward to.
Steve Kean and Venkys are not Blackburn Rovers.

Ihave no argument with fans who dont want to renew their season tickets, as i dont have any qualms with those that do. It is a personal choice depending on your views on how you think the club is being run and the direction its heading. What i dont like to see is the fans tearing lumps out of each other on these pages because their views are different. At the end of the day we all want the same thing hopefully we will all get it ,up the blue and whites.

but i felt the need after all this time. i have been sat on the fence with reagrds to buying a season ticket or not! but i am going to hold off now as i see two positives from this.
if no fans buy tickets then rovers will panic which is what alot want. and if the prices do change after this 'freeze' then i cant see them going up too much as they will need more fans not driving them away!
it hurts very much after being a season ticket holder for 20years aswell as a travelled away fan but i feel its the best way to make them realise as i think itll be more empty promises from venkys.
and just for the record:- i would buy a season ticket with two options.
1,kean (as much as i hate his bull he speaks) given full backing by venkys (money, wages etc) or is sacked by them
2, venkys admit to making false promises and start building our great club again!
no point in any fan arguing against each other just if ur not happy with the situation i would say hold off buying a ticket!

We sold 20,000 ST's 2 years ago - a record that matched the season after we had won the Premier League - think about that for a minute. It was based on a community club approach and using the stadium Uncle Jack left us for home fans by cutting prices and filling Ewood.
.
But Kean and venkys have shown us ZERO community sprit and we need much more action and assurances before deciding to renew.
.
And its no good fans on here being at each others throats for teh simple reason we are already 10,000 fans down on 2 years ago and major action is needed to win them back. And NO we can't do without them - Ewood is flat and alcking atmosphere without us all together.
.
But it is not the fans fault -it is 100% the fault of Kean, Andersen and Venkys and never forget that.

Rovers new finance director Mrs Karen Silk cost cutting continues at a pace.
Having cleared the books of high wage earners including Chris Samba, Ryan Nelson, Jason Roberts, Michel Salgardo, Brett Emertton, Vince Grella, and Keith Andrews plus Jonathan Slew out on loan, Ruben Rochina now finds himself her latest victim.
The 20year old is due a pay rise if he plays a certain number of games and his advisors are wondering if this is contributing to Rochina’s lack of game time on the instructions of Mrs Silk, dubbed the iron lady by Ewood staff. As a result Rochina is ready to quit Blackburn.
AND WHO SAID STEVE KEAN PICKED THE TEAM!
Despite Mrs Silk continued cost cutting Myles Anderson, son of Jerome (the man ruined Blackburn Rovers ) Anderson remains on the pay roll with a squad number and premiership contract. EXPLAIN PLEASE.
Reg
Foot Note:
Quote from former Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams when justifying Rovers high wage bill in relation to turn over, “to give yourself half a chance in the premiership you have to pay decent wages.”
Mrs Silk take please take note.

Blackburn Rovers deputy chief executive Mr Paul Hunt has issued a plea to stay away Rovers supporters saying he is extremely concerned at falling attendances and the effect on next season ticket sales. WHAT DID HE EXPECT?
When will they useless owners of Blackburn Rovers take a reality check and realise that supporters control football clubs NOT OWNERS, NOT MANAGERS, NOT DIRECTORS AND NOT PLAYERS.
The ultimate last word lies with the club supporters, without them there is no club, as Mrs Anuradha Desai is beginning to fiind out.
If you completely ignore the wishes of your fans time after time you are in the end doomed. The constructive criticism completely justified by supporters at Steve Kean’s management of the club was and is still ignored.
This led to protest’s on a small scale at first, then reaching a crescendo at Ewood Park on December 20th v Bolton, so much so that peaceful protest’s inside the ground were banned. An unprecedented act never before seen or experienced in our British democracy. Not even the mighty Manchester United banned the anti Glazier Brigade, and there are over 50,000 of them.
Steve Kean’s continued employment is now costing Venky’s a small fortune. Apart from his inflated £1.3 Million salary per annum he has now managed to get rid of an estimated 5,000 regular fans equating to possibly £15,000 per game and rising.
Whilst financial director Karen Silk seeks to slash wages by disposing of good players, Kean loses Blackburn money on a daily basis.
When will they ‘penny drop’ with people like Paul Hunt and Anuradha Desai ? we do not like Kean, we do not trust Kean, he has told to many lies, spun to much spin, treated Lancashire folk like idiots and talks utter garbage most of the time. We know a fraud when we see one. May I remind you of just two of Kean’s pre-season quotes, “we will finish in the top half of the table” and “I have a stronger squad of players than last season”.
This website said at the time that this is utter garbage and all we had to look forward to with Kean, was a relegation fight.
More recently he stated, Chris Samba will not be leaving Blackburn Rovers – NO WAY. That is until £12 Million was dangled in front of the Rao family and off went Samba.
Well we have had enough, enough of Kean’s incompetence, enough of Anuradha Desai’s arrogance, enough of been completely ignored, enough of player after player leaving the club, enough of high admission charges for second rate premiership performances. For example my ticket in the Jack Walker stand for the Sunderland game on Tuesday in £32.00 just as it was for the visits of Newcastle, QPR and Aston Villa. The cheapest alternative is £17.00 in the Riverside. I pay for the Jack Walker stand by choice but in these days of recession people in East Lancashire cannot afford to go to football matches of such poor quality as being served up by Kean.
In order to increase support for the last four home games reduce prices as did former chief executive Tom Finn (a true Blackburn supporter) he introduced 3 games for £30.00 at the Darwen End and Kids for a £1. Make the last four games in the Darwen end a £40.00 package and kids for a £1, if you want to survive as a premiership club with strong vocal home support it will have to be done.
Falling attendances, I told you on this website at the end of February and warned what was happening long before Paul Hunt woke up to the fact, and it will get worse believe me.
The key to all your problems Mr Hunt and convey this to your pay masters, is get rid of Steve Kean. Give us a proper manager with proper manager responsibility and control. Otherwise you and us are doomed.

Steve Kean has reinvented himself to such an effect that an National newspaper journalist this week suggested that if Blackburn Rovers avoid relegation Steve Kean should be manager of the year. PLEASE LETS GET REAL!
Rovers plight is of Kean’s making but he has cleverly in the eyes of the media turned himself from villain to victim and Blackburn Rovers supporters into thuggish horrible people. Only someone as devious as Kean could do this. His’ body guard’ statement for example, released for the sympathy vote.
So good is Kean at spin and manipulating the media that he really should be a member of parliament.
The result of Kean’s continued employment and the Venky’s ownership has made Ewood Park a gloomy place to visit, gone is the ambience and joviality it had pre- Kean – Venky’s days. As mentioned by Gary Neville in his Mail on Sunday column.
Not only has Kean take us to the brink of relegation but reduced the crowd by a third. QUITE AN ACHIEIVEMENT.
Manager of the year? YOUR HAVING A LAUGH.

I dont particularly mean purchases more who they sell.
If they do not sell anyone (Hoilett aside I think thats a given) I would be happy and a couple of additions would be good.

How can we keep up with other Prem clubs and invest in the playing team if we have CHEAP season tickets! Football is meant to be a middle class game, by bringing in higher revenue from ticket sales and investing in the Rovers brand we can hopefully turn the clubs fortunes around and give Keano a bigger transfer kitty for next season! I would welcome season ticket prices that are on a par with other Prem clubs and not those of League 1 sides. Come on Mr Hunt, lets have an ambitious plan based on higher revenue generation.

I may differ on a few points but the bottom line is I will wait to see how Venkys do in the transfer market before I buy my ticket.
I dont particularly mean purchases more who they sell.
If they do not sell anyone (Hoilett aside I think thats a given) I would be happy and a couple of additions would be good.
Unfortunately I think they will sell a few but then my opinion will be based on who they replace them with. Lets see

He has clearly stated he is not prepared to invest in the club given the current circumstances - not take anything out.
He is merely saying he does not want, as someone once said, "to commit funds on a consistent and systematic basis to future transfer and/or loan activity".
It's a shame certain other people can't be relied upon to be so honest

Cost cutting I do understand being a neccessity, especially if you have players not providing value for money AND if contracts are heavily weighted in favour of the older players not performing (both on and off the field).
Therefore amazing Grella, Anderson, Petrovic and Dunn to a large degree, are still on the books !!
It would seem the logical approach to the new season tickets to wait and see how the season AND summer pans out.
Venky,s approach to running the club has been TOTALLY unacceptable and there is urgent need for clear, decisive and practical goals for their 3-5 year planning....followed up with the Venky,s showing clear commentment.

They wont put the prices up if hardly anybody renews and it's not as though they will be difficult to get hold of whenever you want one.
They'll be chucking match day tickets around like confetti in any case.
We're told the protests haven't worked against them (Venky's) so why not try something which gives a clear indication all is not well? If your customers stop buying, you either improve the product, change what you make entirely, or go bust.
The first two would be preferable - ie, make good on your promises (and that doesn't just mean throwing money at it) or get out.

I suppose a lot depends on the outcome of this season...relegated and you will find very few rushing to snap up season tickets, regardless of the fact they are so cheap!!! At no point could Venkys have ever considered a price increase when there is a serious fan decrease! We sold 20,000 ST's 2 years ago - a record that matched the season after we had won the Premier League - think about that for a minute. It was based on a community club approach and using the stadium Uncle Jack left us for home fans by cutting prices and filling Ewood.

But Kean and venkys have shown us ZERO community sprit and we need much more action and assurances before deciding to renew.

And its no good fans on here being at each others throats for teh simple reason we are already 10,000 fans down on 2 years ago and major action is needed to win them back. And NO we can't do without them - Ewood is flat and alcking atmosphere without us all together.

Well this season has inspired more to buy a new season ticket.
The players gave 100% every game despite the fact we didn't support them because we was to busy trying to get Kean sacked.
We have the most thick skinned manager I've ever known despite the fans booing him every game including when he was celebrating a goal, death threats and no financial support he has almost certainly saved us from relegation.
Despite everything we are staying up because of hard work and skill for those who do not know Arte et Labore translates 'Through skill and labour' this team is as blue and white as it gets.
Venky's are the ones who caused all of our problems in reality Kean was just left to deal with it.
Let's buy the club, leave protests towards Venky's away from games and support the club we love.

Not an expert on Rovers' history but I believe in 1965/66 we only got 20 league points.
Others who have been supporting Rovers for a while longer will no doubt have views on other managers.
Kean is managing the team against the backdrop of naive (or evil depending on your point of view!!) owners who have not kept their promises to the fans. Yes it has taken him a long time to find his feet and yes I still don't listen to his interviews in case he comes out with some bizarre overly positive analysis, BUT the team are definitely playing for him, we are scoring goals, the football is at times flowing and entertaining (although still not often enough).
If people are going to criticise the guy then at least stick to the facts. He may be many things, but he is not the worst manager in the club's history.

Roll out the predictable posts, some of you don’t deserve a Premier league team. Let’s get this straight I’m not a Venkeys fan and wished we’d never heard of them. But, the team is starting to play like a PL team and the players are obviously 100% behind the manager, since Xmas our result have been good with some outstanding performances-look at the league table, only 5 teams have scored more goals, granted we’ve conceded lots but hopefully that is being sorted (players who want away don’t give 100% ie our ex- defensive kingpin Samba) let’s bring back the drab boring football that Allardyce provided eh? Rovers league games have provided 102 goals, more than any other team Man U are second with 100, is that not entertainment? Just get more goals for than against right, but still some of you would take pleasure in moaning, get over your hatred of Kean, he’s not a mass murderer , oh yes he’s a drink driver that you oh so perfect people keep bashing him with. You’d sooner see rovers lose and relegated then you can say I told ya so……do us all a favour find another team to ‘support’ oh, try giving someone a second chance, it might make you feel better, get over it:-)

through thick and thin. til feath do us part. i hate jerome anderson. and the venkys. and kean is a stooge i believe. but there are still 11 lads out there in the blue and white halves giving there all. ive said i wouldnt buy one. but i cant see me not doing. i will be there next year. im a rovers fan when alls said and done.

Seasideblue wrote:Get your facts right MR nob head,it was only to points per win in the sixties, not three points for a win in the P/L now, and if you compare the two seasons he has had then yes worst manager in BRFC history up to now.
alfa111 wrote:The worst manager in Rovers' history?? Surely not. My first year as a supporter and season ticket holder was 1998/99 under Brian Kidd when we got relegated. Paul Ince was clueless. Sam Allardyce did a great job keeping us in the PL but the football was boring boring boring.

I wonder what happened to Rovers till I die....
We love you Rovers we do!
1. There were indeed 2 points for a win in the 60s ("two" not "to" by the way) but there were also 22 teams in the league so 4 more games.
2. Rovers picked up 24% of available points in 1965/66, Kean has picked up 31% of available points so far this season.
3. Win rate in 1965/66 was 19%, Kean's win rate to date this season is 23%.
4. Loss rate in 1965/66 was 71%, Kean's loss rate to date this season is 53%.
5. Rovers finished bottom in 1965/66, to date Rovers are 4 places off bottom.
I do not think Kean is the best man for the job, but it doesn't appear from the facts that he is the worst manager in Rovers' history, but there are a few more games to go!

Much as it sickens me to the core - I will use this opportunity to not renew my season ticket of 22 yrs as Venky's only understand the language of money - and I feel giving them my cash is me supporting their administration of the club - which I cannot do.
We as a group of supporters have been lied to, ridiculed locally and nationally and disrespected beyond all belief.
I don't like Kean - and i've been on protest marches before - but he's been totally hung out to dry by Venky's - he's no Chairman, no words of support or defence when the goings got tough. A lesser man would have walked away - and I (can't believe i'm saying this) but I respect Kean for his dignity and actions. The players clearly feel the same as they have proven that with their support for him with performances.
It's not "deserting" the club - it's being strong and showing Venky's that you can't bully or disrespect us as fans.
With or without my support Rovers are going one way - the club will still be here when they have left and we can call pick up the pieces and move forward.
Venky's are a lost cause.
