Cricket legend Kapil Dev was at the Nevill Cricket Ground in Royal Tunbridge Wells on the 25th anniversary of his stunning innings at the same ground.

A quarter of a centruy ago Kapil Dev scored a magnificent 175 not out in the 1983 World Cup semi-final at the ground. He went on to lift the World Cup for India in the final at Lords against the mighty West Indies.

He was at the ground as part with an Indian film crew.

Representatives from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Kent County Cricket Club welcomed Kapil Dev and the Indian news team twenty-five years on from the day India won the World Cup.

Nigel Bolton, Head of Leisure Services at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, was at the semi-final on 18 June 1983 and witnessed Kapil Dev's tremendous innings.

Nigel welcomed the film crew and Kapil Dev back the Nevill Ground.

Nigel said: "The Nevill Ground is legendary in Indian cricket history and it's great that cricket fans in India will have the chance to see what the Ground looks like and how Kapil Dev felt to be back there.

"I was amazed to find out how much detail Kapil Dev remembered from that momentous day and to learn how much Royal Tunbridge Wells means to him."
