August 15 marks the 25th anniversary of the start of the first Premier League season.

Here we take a look at 25 facts and figures to sum up the 25 years of the rebranded competition.

– the first ever Premier League goal was scored by Brian Deane, for Sheffield United against Manchester United on August 15, 1992.

– two teams have won the Premier League on just one occasion – Blackburn in 1994-95 and Leicester in 2015-16.

– Alan Shearer scored 30 Premier League goals in a season on three occasions – 1993-94, 1994-95 and 1995-96.

– the record for most promotions to, and most relegations from, the Premier League. Crystal Palace and Sunderland fall into both categories, sharing the promotion honours with Leicester and West Brom and the relegation record with Middlesbrough and Norwich.
