Here we take a closer look at the annual AMT Lawyers Football championships.
Saturday April 29th Kick off 3pm
Euro Garages come into the game on the back of a great season in the Blackburn Combination League. They have a cup final to look forward to on Tuesday 2 May and will be hoping to finish things off in normal time.
AFC reached the semi-final last year and may well have gone further if they had played the second half as well as the first against eventual winners Halifax.
They have put in three solid performances in recent years and Euro Garages will be foolish to underestimate AFC as previous clubs have done.
Sunday April 30th Kick off 6pm
In 2016 Coppice United failed to reach the final of this competition for the first time in eight years. Three wins and four runners-up positions makes them the most successful side in this competition. Have we seen the last of the glorious Coppice generation?
Blackburn United may well look to this match as a standard bearer. A good finish to the season has seen them move up to fifth in the East Lancashire League. Might not be most people’s game of the round but this could turn out to be a real classic.
Monday May 1st Kick-off 3pm
Bolton Nomads will have played 26 league matches when their season comes to a close. That is more than any other club in this tournament. Impressive in their first season in the Lancashire Amateur League Nomads have come a long way from the side that first entered this cup as outsiders.
Bolton United have had a great season so far but silverware has alluded them so far and after a 2016 final which they want to forget they will be looking to get off to a good start. The third time these two have met and as with most derby’s they tend to be cagey affairs so don't expect a thriller.
Monday May 1st Kick-off 6pm
FC Bolton are the new side and they begin their first outing against Halifax Hammers. Little is known of Bolton but records show that debut clubs tend to do a lot better than many of us expect.
Halifax looked impressive in parts in 2016 but there were long periods they looked a shadow of the side from 2014. This could turn out to be a decent game to finish off the first set of fixtures.
