What with all the rising tensions and heightened security in France you would think crowd trouble would not be a problem in this year's European championships.

Instead, it has become a frequent spectacle inside and outside of the game with Russian, English and Croatian hooligans causing more trouble than ever before.

But which nations this summer, have been relatively good and generally well behaved?

Northern Ireland

It was great to see Northern Ireland progress into the knockout stages of the Euros just because of the incredible support they have received from their fans. It's the fans that have got right behind their team and spurred them on.

They have really epitomised what fans should ought to be like, enjoying themselves, having a great time and creating a carnival atmosphere. And I for one am looking forward to see their fans rally their team on once more in the next round, when we'll undoubtedly hear the 'Will Grigg's on fire' song again.

Iceland
Iceland just so happen to be the smallest nation at the Euros this year with a population of just over 330,000. It is no surprise then to see them feature in this list.

In their first game against Portugal the fans were superb in voice and jubilant at the final whistle as they managed to salvage a valuable point.

Cristiano Ronaldo even remarked that the way they were celebrating he thought they had won the championships. But it was against Hungary, when Gylfi Sigurðsson scored that we witnessed ecstatic Icelandic celebration.

Turkey
A surprising addition to the list, the Turkish fans have been unusually well behaved.

They have been well known for their notorious antics at football games letting off fireworks and flares on several occasions.

Yet, this time their intense passion and support for their national side has not overspilled into violence or chaos. Even when Turkey had been below par in their first two games, it was the booming Turkish fans that could be heard bellowing and chanting their team on.

Wales
Fifty-eight years is a long time to wait for your national side to feature in a major tournament. But rather than crumble under the pressure, Wales have relished the occasion as they topped group B.
They could not have done it without the fans though. The manager and star players such as Gareth Bale acknowledged and thanked them for their relentless support throughout the group stages.

The Welsh fans have displayed immense passion during their national anthem and grace in their defeat to England. One fan was even caught crying on camera.

Italy
The Italian fans have had a lot to cheer about in Euro 2016 winning their first two games against Belgium and Sweden.
The fans have backed their team throughout even though there had been doubts and criticism prior to the tournament.

They have remained well behaved and disciplined, avoiding the violence and disruption that we've seen in other games. Manager Antonio Conte even urged the Italian fans to dress in blue and really get behind the side after seeing the bright yellow shirts of the Swedish supporters.

Republic of Ireland

But top of the pile again has to the Irish. And last night the atmosphere against the Italians was something else.
Where ever they go they have been welcomed by locals and next stop is Paris. We can't wait!
