Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium will be the venue for the final of the 2016 AMT Lawyers North West Football Championships.

The tournament, also known as the Asian Image Cup, celebrates its 15th anniversary this year and eight teams from across the region will compete to be crowned champions of the North West.

Play-offs will take place in April with the quarter-final stage to be held in early May. Semi-finals will be held on Wednesday May 11 and Thursday May 12.

These matches will take place at Victoria Park, the home of North West Counties side Nelson Football Club. The club have been kind enough to host the matches for the previous three years.

The final will take place on Sunday May 15 at 6pm at League 2 side Fleetwood Town. The stadium has been completely re-built over the last five years with the new Parkside Stand opening to spectators in March 2011.

In 2015 the cup was won by Blackburn FC who overcame Oldham’s Coppice United after extra-time.

Head of Commercial, Martin Booker, said: “We are delighted to host this year’s Asian Image Cup Final at Highbury.

“We are hosting a number of prestigious finals in May 2016 including a host of finals for Non league scene and local adult and youth football. This is another one we can add to the list.

“We hope the event is a great success and the teams enjoy the fantastic facilities on offer at Highbury Stadium, the home of Fleetwood Town FC.”
