Asian Image has been to its fair share of tournaments over the years but even we have to admit this is the biggest trophy we have ever seen!.

And it was deservedly won by Burnley’s Daneshouse FC who overcame a representative Paak United side in the final of the One Ummah annual seven-a-side tournament.

The tournament, held at Prairie Playing Fields, attracted 24 teams and raised a fantastic £4,653 for charity. Abdul Falek from One Ummah said: “We have been doing this tournament for several years now and it has got bigger. It was great to see so many people come together for a good cause.”

Burnley’s Daneshouse proved too strong for all comers at the One Ummah seven-a-side tournament.

The final was a tight affair for much of the first half but then Daneshouse stepped up a gear to smash five past Paak in the second. Top goalscorer on the day Wazza Khan of Daneshouse FC.

Lock Stock and Two Sliding Tackles (top name!) finished third. The best newcomers award went to Haslingdon United.

The tournament raised money towards the building of a children’s centre in Gaza. Organiser Abdul said, “Throughout the day over 700 people attended making this one of our most successful events.”

The event was sponsored and supported by Burnley Leisure Trust, Brunshaw Pharmacy, Taste of India in Barrowford, Tara Burnley Takeaway, Jaipur Padiham. Volunteers from Daneshouse Football Club also supported the tournament.

Abdul added, “Thank you to everyone who attended on the day and the volunteers and referees for their assistance. It was a team effort and we are glad everyone enjoyed it.

“Hopefully we can continue to make it even better next year.”
