Hundreds turned out to watch kabaddi of the highest order at a tournament.

The kabaddi showdown held at Witton Park athletics track saw Blackburn take on Birmingham.

The tournament also saw a display of power-lifting and volleyball.

Organised in memory of event co-ordinators Yunus Pardesi and Qamar Zaman, fans of kabaddi travelled from across the country to be at the festival.

The event was organised by Raja Zaffar, Jhanghir Ahmed, Malik Arfan, Badar Zaman, Asad Zaman, Haider Zaman, Usman Ussy, Bilal Yunus, Pelwan Javaid, Shazad Shafiq, Malak Zafar, Wajid Hussain and Waj.

Zaffar said: “It was a fantastic turn out for us and really pleasing to see so many people at the event from across the country.

“The crowds really enjoyed themselves and I think the venue proved to be perfect for something like this.

“A huge thank you to all the volunteers for their support and for the local businesses who supported us in this venture.

" Thank you also to Cllr Ifthikar Hussain and Cllr Zamir Khan for their support.”
