THERE was an international fever down at Hacken Lane as India's Under-19 touring squad took on Bolton Indians CC in a Twenty/20 match.

There was some classy batting by the touring side as they reached 164-4 thanks to an outstanding innings including Sairaj Patil scoring 72.

Despite a positive start by the Hacken Lane side by scoring at eight runs an over, they were soon pegged back by the opposition bowling attack which proved too strong to be skittled out for 92.

Rajesh Patel from Bolton Indians CC said: "It was a tremendous occasion and match.

"Our captain Kishor Arjan made me aware of it about a week before it after he had been contacted by the Under-19s and they were looking for another team to face in the North West for a game.

"They were already taking on other teams in the area and the majority of those games were 45 overs so they wanted a Twenty/20 one.

"We were happy to accommodate them and it all happened really quickly in the space of a week.

"We have strong connections in India due to our heritage and were contacted due to this association.

"It was a great game Patil was a very good player for them and he is on one of the cards for the IPL teams.

"He was a good right handed batsman and he bowled as well.

"They also had some younger players and had a large squad so it allowed them to get some action.

"One of the highlights was Krish Patel taking a one-handed catch on the boundary.

"It was great because some of our players really upped their game and they enjoyed the experience.

"If they tour again we will be happy to accommodate them.

"The game drew many spectators and the touring side thoroughly enjoyed our hospitality after the game to socialise with the players and spectators."

Patel admits things are going well at the club.

He said: "Our Under-10s only lost one game this year and the future is looking bright.

"We are also moving to the Greater Manchester Cricket League and we are looking forward to that."
