David Platt has been appointed manager of Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Pune City.

The 48-year-old will join up with former France striker David Trezeguet.

He is reported in the Times of India as saying, "I didn't know much about Indian football until the opportunity arose and I spoke to club CEO Gaurav Modwel in London.

"The more I researched and the more I heard, I became enthusiastic about the strategy of the ISL and FC Pune. "There is an ambitious plan and the strategy appealed to me."

Platt played 62 time for England and turned out for Aston Villa, Arsenal and Sampdoria among other clubs.
