PLCC Nomad’s great form continued as they came through a grueling play-off match to proceed to the final eight of the AMT Lawyers Northwest Football Championships.

They began the stronger and should have gone ahead within five minutes in the match played at Victoria Park stadium, Nelson.

It was going to take something special to open the scoring though and that duly arrived in the form of Ahmed Ayub's sublime 30 yard free-kick. PLCC should have doubled their lead two minutes later but a fantastic goal-line clearance by goalkeeper, Okpara who made up for his own error, kept Deepdale in the game.

Deepdale didn't create their first chance until 20 minutes into the match and looked a little off the pace early on. In patches they displayed some good touches but didn't look as threatening as they would have wanted.

The game though came alive with ten minutes left in the first half. Deepdale were awarded a penalty and it put them back on level terms.

As the game wore on PLCC looked likely to make the breakthrough and it duly came in the form of a penalty.

Mohammed Mamu held his nerve to put PLCC 2-1 ahead and it didn’t look like Deepdale would be back into game fast. PLCC seemed to have a new lease of life and stormed forward again for Irfan Patel finish off a great move down the left.

PLCC now go through to the main body of the tournament and will play AFC Preston.

After this performance some of the more established sides may well be looking over their shoulder.
