Footballer Nathan Ellington was on hand to present awards at an interfaith charity football tournament.

“#FootballUnites”, organised by AHF FC and sponsored by 24/7 Home Rescue brought together a variety of people from a mixture of faiths and backgrounds from across Lancashire.

It also included teams from Lancashire Police and Fire Service, Blackburn Scouts and AHF FC team sponsors Class Motors Ltd and Lance Mason solicitors. Awards and trophies were handed out to all sixteen teams by the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Councillor Alan Cottam, council leader Kate Hollern and former West Brom premier league star Nathan Ellington.

The Bishop of Blackburn’s Adviser and Coordinator for Interfaith Work Interfaith Andrew Pratt who attended the event said, "Football Unites was a brilliant example of people from different faiths and communities coming together, an outstanding success.”

Operations director Hassan Khonat at 24/7 Home Rescue said "We are delighted to support and be a part of AHF FC, a real community project that delivers fun and enjoyable sports and helps children from across the region achieve their full potential.

“We hope to see future Premier League stars developing at AHF FC and competing under our logo.” A grand total of £915 was raised for Children In Need and AHF FC Children also raised £320 for Accrington Stanley Football Club in a Hit the Target challenge.

Food was provided by catering companies Adams Rasoi and Deli Delite.
