A’isha Dalal became an internet sensation after she walked out with Manchester City’s Yaya Toure wearing her headscarf.

She is believed to be the first mascot to wear a headscarf and the image was shared across the world over social media. The pictures of her with Yaya Toure were also featured in various Middle Eastern news and sports websites.

A’isha and younger brother Khalil (right), from Blackburn, joined the Premier League championshiip-winning players before the Liverpool game.

A’isha told us: “I really enjoyed buying my kit. Looking for the right colour scarf was time consuming but my mum’s friend managed to eventually find one.

“Wearing a scarf wasn't something I gave a second thought to as I wanted to show that you don't have to be shy about showing your faith and if you want to wear it then feel confident to wear it anywhere.”

The siblings, who are City fans, were over-joyed to be walking out with the players.

A’isha added: “It was a very surreal experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the day. The players were so friendly and made us feel at home. We were lucky to have been allowed to pick our players.

“Khalil wanted to walk with Samir Nasri as last time he walked with the goalkeeper and myself with Yaya Toure.

“Yaya was very friendly and asked if I was nervous. I said a little. He reassured me not to be scared and I wished him good luck. It was a day Khalil and I will never forget.”
