Miroslav Klose has moved level with Ronaldo as the World Cup's top goalscorer of all-time - a record the Germany striker now wants all for himself.

The 36-year-old striker came off the bench against Ghana on Saturday and scored with his first touch of the tournament, stretching to ensure Benedikt Howedes' goalbound header found the back of the net.

It helped Germany secure a 2-2 draw in an enthralling match in Fortaleza and saw Klose draw level with Brazil's Ronaldo on 15 goals.

This is the Lazio striker's fourth World Cup finals and one which he hopes will have plenty more goals.

"I'm itching for it, I want to be the first," Klose said. "That's my big goal.

"You want to come in actually when the team is winning.

"If a team like Ghana gathers momentum, it is of course difficult. We have had it under control.

"It was warmer than the Portugal game and this made it run very intensive.

"Whether I play from the beginning or sitting on the bench, all the players are important. From 20 World Cup games, 15 goals are not bad."

Despite seeing his record matched, Ronaldo clearly held no bad feelings towards Klose, taking to Twitter shortly after his goal to post: "Welcome to the club #Klose".

This tournament is all-but certain to be the German's last chance to secure the record for himself, with the 36-year-old's age clearly catching up with him after a dodgy landing to his trademark somersault.

"At my age, I didn't want to keep doing those anymore," Klose said.

"The fact I didn't quite pull it off so well doesn't matter, but you could see I was out of practice for it."

Klose and his team-mates face the USA in their final group game still needing a positive result to reach the last 16, while Ghana will need to beat Portugal no matter what if they are to make it out of Group G.

The Black Stars can count themselves unlucky not to have taken all three points from a match Mario Gotze opened the scoring in early in the second half.

It had looked like Joachim Low's men were set for a second straight win after defeating Portugal 4-0 in their opening fixture, but Ghana responded bravely as Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan completed a sensational turnaround.

Klose's goal after 71 minutes denied them victory and wing-back Harrison Afful has pledged to bounce back in their final match.

"It's a shame we couldn't win," he said. "It would have been great to take all three points.

"But we ran ourselves into the ground and played really well against a team of the calibre of Germany.

"We've still got a game to go and we're going to give it our all to go through. If we don't qualify, it won't be for lack of effort."
