India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ruled out of the Asia Cup with a side strain.
Dhoni suffered the injury in the drawn second Test against New Zealand and has been replaced in the squad by Dinesh Kartik.
Virat Kohli will lead the side in the competition, which begins in Bangladesh on February 25, but Dhoni is expected to be back in time for next month's World Twenty20 in the same country.
A statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India read: "MS Dhoni has been ruled out of the forthcoming Asia Cup, to be played in Bangladesh, in February-March 2014.
"He sustained a Grade I left side-strain injury during the course of the second Test against New Zealand. He will be undergoing rehabilitation for ten days.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked Dinesh Kartik as his replacement in the Indian squad for the tournament."
