Amir looks to the States

AMIR Khan is being lined up to make his American debut in just over two months time.

The Bolton boxing superstar, who was ringside when Joe Calzaghe beat Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning, could be on the undercard when David Diaz and Manny Pacquiao fight for the WBC world lightweight title at Mandalay Bay on June 28.

Khan said: "I want to come to the States to fight earlier than Joe did. USA is where it's at and I plan loads of fights there.

"I want to make my debut in America sooner rather than later because I know the experience will help me."

Much will depend on whether Khan's people can get the permission of ITV who hold the broadcast rights for the 21-year-old's next fight after which their long-running deal to screen his fights expires.
