Three Bradford brothers have recorded a track for a new film starring Hollywood actor Rob Lowe.

Asian-urban music production team RDB has collaborated with Grammy award-winning hip hop artist Ludacris and Bollywood star Akshay Kumar on a song called Shera Di Kaum, featuring in cross-cultural film Speedy Singhs, released on September 23.

Inspired by the life of a Canadian ice hockey player, the film stars award-winning Indian actor Anupam Kher as a father who wants his son to give up his quest of pursuing a hockey career and devote his life to his religion and family business.

The video to Shera Di Kaum features RDB singer Manj with Rob Lowe and other stars from the film.

RDB – the name stands for Rhythm, Dhol Bass – have worked with such artists as Snoop Dogg and Public Enemy and are regarded as pioneers in blending Western musical beats with the dhol (drum) sound of South Asian music.

The trio are Punjabi Sikh brothers Kuly, Manj and Surj, who are based in Toronto, Canada.

The brothers were introduced to music as children by their father, who taught them to sing religious songs and play the harmonium in their Gurudwara (Sikh temple) in Bradford. They formed RDB in 2000, fusing various musical genres with South Asian influences and re-moulding traditional British Bhangra music into a raw urban sound.
