A Muslim woman from New York is teaching women how to protect themselves against hate crimes, including a move dubbed the “hijab-grab.”
Rana Abdelhamid, who learnt martial arts from the age of 7, says that she was a victim of hate crime when she was 15 which motivated her to help other Muslim women protect themselves.

Speaking in the video Rana says, "Practice is really important. You're not just going to remember these things on the spot, especially when you're in a moment of crisis."
Rana adds a final tip, "If your hijab just comes off, sometimes you need to let them have it.
"You'll find another cute scarf somewhere else."
