Bolton’ s Tina Philip has thanked fans, friends and family after she was named the Dabur Fresh Face Award at the Star Parivaar Awards.
Tina who was a chartered accountant by profession headed off to India two years ago in the hope of landing a film and TV role.
And in March it was announced she would be the lead actress in TV drama ‘Ek Aastha Aisi Bhee’.
Indian dramas are watched by millions across the world and their popularity in recent years has outstripped Bollywood.
The Star Parivaar Awards are one of the largest awards of their kind in India and are attended by some of the world’s leading soap and music stars.
Speaking to Asian Image she said: “It’s been an incredible journey from the UK to India from chartered accountancy to acting! And I have a lot of people to thank.
“Star Plus for considering me worthy enough for this award, my parents, specially my Dad for giving me the freedom to take that leap of faith into a new career, my producers Dheeraj Sarna and Ved Raj for not giving up on me and giving me Aastha, my director Dharamendra Sharma for being my guide, all my friends who really have been so encouraging and supportive throughout this journey and last but not least all the viewers of our show. Thank you for all your love.
