We are often warned about taking our mobile phones with us to the bathroom, largely due to the mass of germs that could be accumulated, or the risk of the dropping the phone in the toilet.

An Indian teenager has presented another hazard altogether.

An 18-year-old boy from Ahmedabad, India dropped his phone into the toilet.

However, in a bid to retrieve his mobile, the teen’s hand got stuck in the toilet for over 3 hours.

Fire and Emergency Services were called to help the teenager after family tried unsuccessfully to free his arm for an hour.

Fire officials subsequently uprooted the plumbing and cut the bowl to rescue him.

According to The Times of India, an official said: ‘The teenage boy had entered the toilet with his mobile phone which slipped and fell into the bowl. He tried to retrieve it however, his hand got stuck inside till his elbow and he called for help as he was in pain.

‘We first slowly dug the area around the bowl and freed the portion of plumbing and then cut the bowl and pipe to release his hand. He was later taken to a nearby hospital as his hand was swollen.’ It is unclear whether the phone was rescued.
