Indian playback singer Kanika Kapoor will join Naughty Boy to perform Bollywood classics as part of this year's BBC Proms Late Night.

Taking place at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 22 July at 10:15pm, BBC Asian Network’s Bobby Friction will play host to singing-sensations Benny Dayal and Palak Muchhal, alongside songwriter and producer Naughty Boy as East meets West for a night of contemporary and classic Bollywood fused with mainstream beats underpinned by the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Richard Davis. Also announced today, special guest Emeli Sandé will join Naughty Boy for a performance of Lifted, in an orchestral arrangement with the BBC Philharmonic.

Naughty Boy said: ‘I couldn't do anything as important as the BBC Proms without Emeli, having her next to me is simply the icing on the cake.’ The Prom will also include an orchestral performance of Naughty Boy’s hit single La La La, as well as the first live performance of a new track, Runnin’, with Arrow Benjamin, orchestrated specially for the BBC Philharmonic. Indian playback singer Kanika Kapoor will join Naughty Boy to perform classics from films including Kabhie Kabhie and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Benny Dayal will perform some of his biggest hits, including Badtemeez Dil and Bang Bang, as well as paying tribute to the musical genius AR Rahman and the legendary Kishore Kumar, while Palak Muchhal’s set will include Chahun Main Ya Naa and Meri Ashiqui from Ashiqui 2. She will also pay homage to Lata Mangeshkar and the late great Reshma.

The BBC Proms Late Night with Asian Network performance marks the 50th anniversary this year of Asian Programmes on the BBC and launches a new series of Proms performances curated in collaboration with six BBC national radio stations – 6 Music, Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, Radio 2 and Radio 4.

The BBC Proms, the world’s largest classical music festival, opens at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 17 July, presenting two months of many of the world’s greatest artists, composers, orchestras and ensembles across 92 concerts.

Highlights of the 2015 BBC Proms include concerts marking the 150th anniversaries of Nielsen and Sibelius and the 90th birthday year of Pierre Boulez, a glittering line-up of pianists performing the complete concerts of Beethoven and Prokofiev, a new series of Sunday Matinees for all the family, and Late Night collaborations with the BBC’s network radio stations alongside solo Bach recitals.

Seated tickets are available from bbc.co.uk/proms and over 1,350 standing (Promming) tickets will be made available on the day of the event, costing just £5.
