A court in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan has announced jail terms for Veena Malik, her husband Asad Malik and Shaista Lodhi, who had hosted a controversial TV programme earlier this year.
It also ordered the arrest of Mir Shakil ur Rehman, the owner the Jang group of publications which also group owns “Geo television”.
Judge Raja Shehbaz Khan imposed a penalty of 1.3 million Pakistani rupees(about $12,500) each on all f the accused, who have the right to appeal against the judgment reports IANS.
A petition, filed in May this year which stated that the convicts had “used derogatory language for committing blasphemy by airing objectionable contents.
It follows a controversial morning show in May that which celebrated the wedding of Veena and played a common religious song in the background.
