A man has been charged with assaults on police after a Gaza protest outside a Tesco store.
Naveed Zafar will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court to face two charges of assault, three counts of assaulting a police officer and a further charge of obstructing police, West Midlands Police said.
It follows disorder outside the store in the Hodge Hill area of the city, in which demonstrators campaigning for the rights of people in Gaza and police clashed, on Saturday.
At one point, trouble spilled into the shop, with some produce knocked to the floor.
Zafar, 35, of Naseby Road, Alum Rock, Birmingham, is due in court today.
In a statement, a force spokesman said: "A man has been charged following a disorder at Tesco in Hodge Hill, Birmingham, on Saturday."
It went on: "He has been charged with two counts of assault, three counts of assaulting a police officer and one count of obstructing a police officer in the execution of their duty."
