A record number of children have been invested as Scout members at the Abu Hanifah Foundation School.
Scouting has become very popular within the Muslim community with over 500 children and adults taking part in scouting activities every week.
Community organisations including Abu Hanifah Foundation, One Voice and Olive School have thriving scout groups with children enjoying activities such as climbing, cooking, pioneering and camping.
All three groups have long waiting lists with so many more children desperate to join. Abu Hanifah Foundation is the first UK Madrasah to combine Scouting into its curriculum.
AHF Group Scout Leader Sazeda Patel told us “We recognise scouting is a fantastic way to engage and develop children holistically. Being involved in scouting for over 5 years, I’ve seen children learn so many new skills and grow in confidence”.
The ceremony was attended by East Lancashire County Commissioner Glenn Fendall who said “East Lancashire Scouts is delighted to see the start of this new venture, embedding scouting into the AHF Madrasah and the exciting journey for 108 children and 14 adult leaders”.
