The father of Lavna Chuttoo has posted a heartbreaking tribute one year after the Coombe Girls’ School pupil was killed by a lorry in New Malden.

Lavna Chuttoo, 14, was killed at the junction of Lime Grove and Coombe Grove while walking to school with friends one year ago today.

Her father Chetananand Chuttoo paid tribute to Lavna on Facebook on Monday.

He posted: “This time Tuesday this month a year ago took away part of me, left me empty, helpless, crying with tears - flow like a river.

”You hugged me you kissed me and you looked at me with a smile saying ‘love you Taji’.
I never knew it was the last one I would hear from you.

“I'm so desperate to hear, see your smile. I'm so desperate for the hugs and kisses and eager to hear those lovely words again.

“Why am I crying so much? Is it because you were cruelly taken away from me? Is it because I miss you so much?”

Lavna’s death led to floods of complaints about safety at the junction and calls for HGVs to be banned from using residential side roads.

An inquest in July found there were no defects with the lorry and that the driver had “very limited opportunity” to avoid hitting her.

It also found the road layout was not a contributing factor, though the Kingston Council is considering changes to the road to be consulted on early next year.

Great Ormond Street Hospital have launched a fund called The Lavna Chuttoo Brighter Future Fund.
