Investigators have revealed more details about the death of a “warm and friendly” teacher involved in a motorbike crash on the A355 last weekend.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has confirmed that Ahmed Bafadhel, 28, who died on Sunday, July 31, was riding a Honda motorcycle when he was involved in a crash with another motorbike and a Mercedes.

He was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but died of his injuries.

Another man, who had been riding the second motorbike which was in a crash with the Honda motorcycle, the Mercedes car and a Skoda, suffered serious leg injuries.

A post-mortem found the cause of death to be multiple injuries and an inquest into the death has been opened and adjourned.

The IPCC is investigating the actions of the police just before the crash, as a Thames Valley Police vehicle was at the scene at the time.

Hertfordshire Constabulary is carrying out a parallel investigation into the crash itself.

IPCC Associate Commissioner Guido Liguori said: “Our thoughts are with everybody affected by this tragic incident which sadly resulted in a young man losing his life. We have met with the man’s family to explain our role.

“We encourage anyone who may have witnessed the incident and has not already come forward to do so as soon as possible.”

Friends and colleagues have paid tribute to Mr Bafadhel, who was head of technology at Slough and Eton School and member of Deen Riders, a Muslim motorbike organisation that works with charities around the world.

Hamzah Ahmed, chairman of the Slough Youth Parliament, said: “To say he was an inspiration is a gross understatement of just how amazing he was. A teacher, a friend and a role model.”

Anyone with information about the crash, which happened at around 2.20pm near the junction of Tower Road, Coleshill, on July 31, should call the IPCC on 0800 096 9070 or email witness@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk.
