Thousands of students nationwide learned valuable life-saving skills thanks to St John Ambulance’s Big First Aid Lesson Live hosted by paediatric and TV doctor Dr Ranj.

The charity streamed the free one-hour webinar live into classrooms to teach primary and secondary school students life saving skills, such as how to assist someone who's choking or having a seizure - both of which are serious and potentially fatal conditions that need to be dealt with promptly.

Dr Ranj said: ‘It was an incredible day to be part of. First aid is so easy to learn and can make a huge impact in a minor or major emergency.

"You never know when you might need it or who you may need to help– maybe a family member, a mate, or a neighbour but it’s always good to know you can make a difference in an emergency.

‘I would strongly urge schools who couldn’t watch the lesson live on Friday to watch the Big First Aid Lesson Live on catch up at sja.org.uk so their pupils don’t miss out on what could be the most important lesson they’ll ever learn.

Sue Killen, CEO, St John Ambulance said, ‘This year’s Big First Aid Lesson Live has been a huge success and it’s a great feeling knowing that thanks to today, more young people are equipped to provide first aid when someone needs it.’

‘Dr Ranj’s hosting skills and expertise has been invaluable and we’re so grateful for his help.’
