A video aiming to counter the religious extremist messages of ISIS has been produced.

Created by the Quilliam Foundation, the counter-extremism think tank, the clip shows a fighter in a war-torn country reading a letter from home.

A hashtag #notanotherbrother has already garnered support from across the UK.

A message accompanying the video states, “ISIL are radicalising our brothers to fight in Syria. They are tearing families apart. Enough is enough. Sharing this film will show ISIL that their extremist views have no place in our community. No family should lose another loved one to such hatred.”

In the video, a fighter can be seen reading a letter, its author reading aloud as a voice over. “I’d tell you I wish I could take back every time I sent you a tweet what got all gassed up saying how the West has turned its back on us.”

It finishes with a message “So please, just come home.”

Quilliam Chairman Maajid Nawaz said, “We hope to inspire others to be creative, think critically, and make counter-narrative content too. Only by uniting, as a civil society, behind human rights values and against the social ill of Islamist extremism, can we truly defeat it.”

A statement from the Quilliam Foundation reads, “These films, generously supported through a crowdfunding campaign by a cross-section of the general public, are examples of counter-narrative videos.

“We are enormously grateful to all our supporters, as together we have all created content that can counter the influence of ISIL and more broadly challenge the extremist narratives and ideologies that threaten us all.”
