A teenager has been arrested in connection with an alleged hit-and-run inside Kingston University’s car park that left a security guard injured and in need of hospital treatment.

Police officers, patrol dogs and the police helicopter were called out to search around the Penrhyn Road campus after the 44-year-old security guard was hit by a car on Friday, July 10.

It is believed he was trying to diffuse an argument about an accident before a blue Ford Focus allegedly reversed into him, throwing him off the bonnet and crashing into another car before speeding off.

A 19-year-old man from Surbiton was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and failing to stop last Friday.

He has been bailed until September while police make further enquiries.

Officers are also appealing for information to find a woman who was in the car. She was of Asian appearance with long dark hair and was wearing sunglasses.

Detective Sergeant Lee Tullett from Kingston CID said: “We would like to speak to the passenger who was in the blue Ford Focus car registration number X238 ONO on the afternoon of Friday, July 10.

“I urge her to come forward to help us with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information should call Kingston CID on 020 8721 5819 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
