A remorseless ‘danger to women’ who waged a five year long campaign of bullying, abuse and intimidation has been jailed.

A woman was subjected to a terror campaign by Antanine Alfred, 35, of no fixed address, who was imprisoned for two years and nine months on Wednesday after admitting actual bodily harm and theft.

The victim, Alfred’s ex-partner, needed hospital treatment for some of the injuries he inflicted on her during a five year campaign of intimidation and assault in the Mitcham area.

Police said it was harder for the terrified woman to come forward because she is from the Asian community, and stayed silent for years before plucking up the courage to approach officers in September last year.

Following an investigation by the Community Safety Unit at Wimbledon police station, officers discovered that Alfred had subjected his victim to domestic abuse over an extended period of time.

He admitted actual bodily harm and theft and was jailed at Kingston Crown Court on Wednesday, June 10.

Detective constable Vicky Allen, from the safety unit said: "This was a campaign of terror against the victim over five years. Alfred bullied, abused and assaulted the victim on many occasions.

“He also intimidated her into not reporting the incidents to the police. As she is from the Asian community this was made harder for her. However, the victim found the courage to work with the police and bring an end to the abuse. I would like to thank the victim for the courage she has shown and the assistance she has given to police.”

D Con Allen said Alfred failed to show any remorse for his actions and urged anyone in an abusive relationship to come forward.
