A father has been found hanged after the bodies of his two teenage daughters and their mother were found in a house in Chadwell Heath, north-east London.
Police attended a property in Grove Road yesterday afternoon after concerns about the welfare of the family.
Officers forced entry and found the bodies of a woman, believed to be aged 37, and two girls, believed to be aged 13.
This morning police were called to Woodford reservoir in Walthamstow to reports of a man found hanged. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives had been carrying out urgent enquiries to trace a 45-year-old man, who was missing from the address in Chadwell Heath.
Police have not yet named the family members but say they were mother, father and twin daughters.
Post-mortem examinations will start today, A Met Police spokesman said: “We will not speculate on cause of death, however the female bodies have no signs of visible injuries.”
The last confirmed sighting of the family was on Sunday (May.10).
Detective Superintendent Kenny McDonald, who is overseeing the investigation, said: "At this stage we are awaiting the outcome of the post-mortems to confirm cause of death, which will provide further evidence of what has taken place inside the house at Grove Road.
"However, at this stage in our ongoing investigation we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
"We are making extensive enquiries to trace next of kin, who we believe to be outside of the UK."
Police have been standing outside Juniper Court where the family are believed to have lived.
Mother-of-two Zoya Habibani, 24, lives in the same block as the family and described them as "really friendly", adding: "It's really sad."
She said she thought the family were originally from India.
Samantha Puholy, 45, has lived in the area for 10 years, and said it is "very quiet".
She said residents would be shocked at the incident.
"It's very, very sad," she said.
The Directorate of Professional Standards is reviewing the police response and a referral to the Independent Police Complaints Commission has been made in relation to the case.
This follows police attending the address in Grove Road late on Monday evening but getting no response and finding no signs of any disturbance.
