Armeena Rana Khan says she enjoyed working with Pakistani heartthrob Humayun Saeed in her forthcoming movie Bin Roe.

The film is set to be released after Ramadan and is one of three major movies Armeena is part of.

“I learnt a lot from him and indeed from the many other senior actors, such as Adnan Siddiqui and Zeba Bakhtiar, with whom I have been very lucky to work with.

“The best thing is about actors who are on top of their fame is that most of them are a lot of fun and really witty.

“One might think they will be arrogant or pompous but nothing could be further from the truth.”

Bin Roe is is a love triangle starring Armeena, Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed. It is Hum TV’s first ever cinematic feature film and is being produced by the prolific Momina Duraid. “It will be interesting to follow this project because it is the first serious attempt to conquer the Pakistani box office with a romantic feature, when recent experience tells us that patriotic films or comedies are the most commercially viable."

“The second film is “Yalghaar”. It is under production and is the most expensive film ever made in Pakistan.”

“This film is essentially following on from “Waar” and expectations are high since they are both from the same producer, Hassan Rana., who seems to have figured out how to deliver the big block buster. My third project is tentatively titled “Jaanan”.

“We are currently in pre-production and although I can’t reveal too much detail, I can reveal that it will showcase Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and its people in a positive light. It is set to be the first of its kind in Pakistan and I am playing the main protagonist.”

It is produced by Imran Khan’s wife Reham Khan and Imran Kazmi who are working to bring to life the vision of the writer, Osman Khalid Butt.

“I am looking forward to this because as an actor it is always challenging to break new ground and to work with professionals who will not compromise on quality and delivery.”

While she is a familiar face on Television she says her recent experiences on working in films has been positive. “Film has the potential to captivate and engage far bigger audiences around the world."

“Also it is easier to control from a scripting point of view. Dramas are limited by culture, language and geography.

“They are a great platform to develop and explore characters and can propel an actor into a household name, especially in Pakistan. In Pakistan Dramas are the bread and butter for an actor.”

The Pakistani movie industry continues to produce innovative movies. Armeena says it is important for this to continue to challenge the negative stereotypes of the country.

“When you switch on the news and see all the negative stories and problems in Pakistan it is easy to forget that behind these stories there is huge change taking place within Pakistan in every sector.

“Despite the challenges, ordinary Pakistanis, fuelled by ambition, are using their creativity to drive through some wonderful achievements. The industry has a long way to go still as the producers are experimenting with different genres and methods.”

In the coming year Armeena is appearing in a drama serial Ishq Parast currently airing on ARY digital and Karb which due to start this month.

And she is also the current face of popular soft drink Sprite in Pakistan!

And whilst she is busy travelling from country to country we can reveal that she misses sleeping more than anything else, “Although acting may appear on the outside as a glamorous existent, it is not. I work almost 16 hour days every day with very little personal time. I seem to be either on a plane, on a film set or in a hotel room.

“Of course there are perks. It is like living 100 life times in just one life.

“In the last month for example I have ridden atop elephants in Thailand, presented an award on stage in Dubai and raced Porsches in England, all through my work. I would not change it for the world though, I love my job and forgoing sleep is a little sacrifice to me.”
