The Conservatives have been keen to try to draw on voters in many predominantly Asian constituencies.

Mr Cameron wore an orange headscarf as he visited a Sikh gurdwara while campaigning in Gravesend, Kent.

In the high-profile visit he was accompanied by his wife Samantha.

 

And on May 2 he participated in a Abhishek ceremony as he visited the Neasden Hindu Temple.

Mr Cameron was joined by Conservative candidates Alan Mendoza and Luke Parker as they took part in an Abhishek ceremony at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, on Brentfield Road.

But it was his apparent non-visit to a mosque that seemed to resonate with some people.
