A British citizen has been charged in the UK with the murder of a woman in Pakistan.
Tariq Rana, 30, is accused of killing Gulam Asia, 49, who died after being shot several times outside her home in the country's capital Lahore on July 27 last year.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Although the murder took place in Pakistan, section 9 of the Offences against the Person Act 1861 provides authority to try a UK national for an offence of murder committed overseas."
Rana, of no fixed abode, was arrested on Wednesday after an investigation by the Metropolitan Police's homicide and major crime command.
Two other UK nationals - Nargis Ahmed, 33, and Mohammed Adeel, 35, both from Birmingham - have been charged with assisting an offender.
All three defendants will appear at Hendon Magistrates' Court in north London later today.
