A Bradford artist reckons he has knocked his neighbours for six by painting a giant cricket ball on his house.
Barry Langroyd Hanson , 73, who calls himself “Bradford’s other artist”, decided to create the unusual artwork – called A Bigger Ball – on the exterior of his Undercliffe home in tribute to his love of the sport.
The former groundsman at Undercliffe Cricket Club said he believes he is a rival to city artist David Hockney .
“Hockney did a painting of trees called Bigger Trees – I’ve created A Bigger Ball,” he added.
Mr Langroyd Hanson, of Killinghall Road, said he had already sparked discussion among his neighbours.
The former teacher said: “Lots of people have been coming up to me and asking me about it.
“It think it’s definitely something a little bit on the unusual side.
“I love art and I’ve always been able to paint – I’ve always been better than David Hockney. I’m Bradford’s other artist.”
The artist held an exhibition at the Industrial Museum two years ago in tribute to his late wife Esther.
