A huge Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Street Party is being held in Blackburn.

The family event will see Victoria Street, Blackburn restricted to traffic on Monday June 4 from 11am to 6pm.

The street is the main road in to and out of the Whalley Range area.

The celebration event will take place between Cafe Dil and Penny Profit. Access to Swallow Drive will to residents only. There will no effect to traffic joining Randal Street from Barbara Castle Way.

Plans have already been made for a series of fun stalls, medhi artists, face painting, a bouncy castle and giant slide.

The event is being paid for through private donations and sponsors.

Shabir Mohammed, Chairman of the Shear Brow Community Association, which is helping to organise the event said, “It is going to be a community and family event for all the residents of the area.

“We wanted to do something in the heart of Blackburn and we would also like to welcome everyone from across the town to join us on what should be a fantastic day.”

Shear Brow Councillor Suleman Khonat said, “The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is a special occasion and the community has got together to help organise this.

“This is family day and I am sure the community will rally round to support the celebration day.”
