A passenger in a horror death smash who last night was fighting for her life in hospital will miss her wedding this weekend.
Sonia Ali, 21, from Wensley Fold, Blackburn, was due to get married on Saturday, but yesterday was unconscious following emergency surgery after the crash in Bury Road, Rawtenstall, on Sunday night.
She was the front seat passenger in a silver Honda Civic driven by her auntie Shabana Aslam, 28, of Blackburn, who died at the scene.
The mother-of-three was married to Zaka-ul Islam of Accrington.
Her funeral took place yesterday at Grimshaw Street Mosque, Accrington and she was buried at Pleasington Cemetery in front of hundreds of mourners.
Family friend, Coun Zamir Khan described her as a ‘lovely, warm caring woman’ and said it was a ‘very sad situation’ for the whole family.
Last night Sonia’s father Mazar Ali was at his daughter’s bedside with her husband to be, after Sonia’ mother Sara – Shabana’s sister – attended the funeral.
Coun Khan said: “Obviously the wedding will have to be cancelled.
“She’s had three lots of surgery on her legs and arms and has internal injuries and she is still unconscious.

The car speared into a wall and ended up down an embankment at the junction of Bury Road and New Hall Hey Business Park.
At a brief hearing at Burnley Coroner’s Court, Coroner Richard Taylor said Shabana died of multiple injuries and adjourned the inquest until a later date.
Councillor Allah Dad, who represents Hyndburn’s Central ward, said about Shabana: “I knew her when she was a little girl and lived in Great Harwood with her family.
“She was a lovely girl.”
“The community is in a state of shock because what has happened is a real tragedy.”
