Staff and visitors attending a police headquarters will now have access to a refurbished multi-faith facility.
The provisions at Lancashire Constabulary are a marked improvement from previous arrangements and came about as a result of extensive consultation carried out with employees by Lancashire Black Police Association.
Lancashire Black Police Association (LBPA) is a staff support network which was formed in 1997 and is currently chaired by Chief Inspector Jameel Murtza.
The association aims to provide a collective voice and support mechanism for the Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME), Police Officers and Staff employed by Lancashire Constabulary.
As well as improved provision, the new multi faith facility incorporates a prayer and ablution areas and has a larger capacity.
This multi-faith facility will allow colleagues and visitors at HQ to participate in Friday congregational prayer (Jummu’ah) which will be now be offered at the new site on a regular basis.
Today (Friday June 1) the Lancashire Black Police Association invited a local imam, Maulana Amjad from Masjid-e-Salaam, Preston to lead the Jummu’ah (Friday) sermon and prayers.
