A MAN who was seriously injured in a crash last month has died.

Tributes have been paid Muhammad Sabir Khan, aged 82, who was hurt in the crash on Blackburn Road at around 6am on the morning of Friday, October 27.

He was taken to hospital where he died this morning after his condition deteriorated.

Mr Khan, of Watersmead Close in Bolton, was well known in the community at the Taiyabah Masjid mosque on Blackburn Road where he is believed to have been going for morning prayer when the collision happened.

Inayat Omarji MBE, a supportive volunteer at the bereavement and funeral service at the Bolton Council of Mosques, said: "He has passed away sadly this morning. I think his family was informed a few days ago that he was deteriorating so it was expected but it is a shock to the community.

"He was well known in the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

"He was one of the elders at the mosque, he was well respected by all, from the young to the old. It is sad to see him go in this way."

Mr Omarji added they are currently waiting for the coronial process to take place before the body is released and the funeral details are confirmed.

BCOM confirmed the death, posting on Twitter, it said: "Muhammad Sabir Khan of Watersmead Close,Bolton BL1 8JJ has passed away. Janazah details TBC."

A man was arrested following the crash when he handed himself in at Bolton Police Station where he was questioned.
