"Those responsible for the attack on Monday night sought only to spread fear and division – we  have demonstrated to the world that they have failed.

"Today the people of Manchester reaffirm our commitment to one another with a prayer for peace, and will continue to reject poisonous ideologies of any kind. Britain will always remain a united, open and tolerant nation.

"Prayers at Mosques around Manchester and the world will remember those lives lost and our hearts will be with their families.”
