POLICE have seized a quantity of cash and arrested three adults after a 16-year-old boy was seen collecting for a questionable "charity" in Bradford.

Bradford Police said the youth, from Blackburn, was unable to present an ID or peddler's licence outside a takeaway in Great Horton Road this week.

His "employer" and two other adults were arrested under the Modern Day Slavery Act and fraud, while the child was safeguarded and returned to parents.

A police spokesman said: "We fully support charitable donations when the money goes to its intended destination. Although please be careful when donating to unknown persons without ID or registered charity numbers."

The suspects have been bailed and inquiries are ongoing.

It is expected to be a lengthy and complex joint investigation with police in Lancashire.

The police have not yet said how much cash had been collected.
