A restaurant manager has spoken of his disgust after a thief stole charity tubs and a laptop from his front counter.

Abdul Toheed manager of the Waheed’s Restaurant based on Randal Street in Blackburn says the incident happened yesterday afternoon (December 27).

The thief is spotted taking three chandah (charity) tubs as well as the owner’s laptop.

“This is the first time it has happened here.

“It is really shocking that anyone would want to take money that people has donated to charity.

“We do try our best to assist all charities and the boxes belong to the charities themselves who leave them at our counter.”

Abdul think the thief entered the premises first and then returned when the reception was not manned for a moment.

Adbul said his laptop had bookings and work information on it and he asked the thief to just hand it back.

“It is of no use to him whatsoever. We have all our bookings and contacts on and as anyone who knows it can be such a huge pain getting this information back.

“I would be happy if he just returned the laptop and left it at the entrance.”

The incident has been reported to the police.
