A new free drop-in service offering financial advice for families is now being offered at Bangor Street Community Centre in Blackburn.

Following the closure of the CAB (Citizen Advice Bureau) in the town earlier this year Debt Advice Hub said it had seen an increase in the number of people contacting it about money related problems.

Debt Advice Hub offer confidential advice on debt, budgeting and general financial issues.

Faisal Ishaq said: “Debt Advice Hub has been helping clients since 2013 and I personally have been working in the debt and insolvency industry for around 13 years.

“We started the business at a local level, assisting people from the community who were struggling with their finances.

“Most of our clients were from Blackburn, Preston and the surrounding areas. However, the need for this service became apparent quite early on, and we soon started offering the same personal service at a national level.

“We now work with a number of local and national charities in assisting their service users with financial issues, effectively adding another string in the bow of organisations from the not for profit sector.”

The new weekly session ‘Money Matters’ will be available for free every Monday evenings from 6pm at Bangor Street Community Centre. The sessions began on Monday August 22.
