TWO drivers today pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of a cab driver and his passenger in an horror crash on a Bradford road.
Manningham Taxis driver Mirza Abdul Malick, 64, and his passenger, former antiques restorer Paul Hayward, 55, died at the scene after the three-car crash on the A650 Shipley Airedale Road, just before 11am on Saturday, January 2 this year.
Mr Malick's Proton minicab was hit by a BMW and a Range Rover.
This morning Ismail Miah, 23, of Springfield Place, Manningham, Bradford, and Muhammad Sikder, 27, of Sylhet Close, Manningham, appeared at Bradford Crown Court and pleaded guilty to two charges of causing death by dangerous driving.
Members of both deceased's families were in court, along with police officers and relatives of the defendants.
Miah and Sikder will be sentenced next month.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC agreed to an adjournment to allow medical and probation reports to be obtained on the defendants.
He granted them bail on condition of residence and that they observe an electronically monitored curfew between 7pm and 7am.
Judge Durham Hall said it was a disgraceful case and a custodial sentence was inevitable.
He made interim driving disqualifications for both defendants.
