HUNDREDS of mourners said goodbye to a popular Blackburn boy killed after being hit by a car.

Around 1,000 people were at Pleasington Crematorium for the service for Adam Limbada, who was killed when crossing Whalley New Road in Blackburn.

Tributes have continued to pour in for the nine-year-old who attended Daisyfield Primary School, Blackburn.

Deputy headteacher at Daisyfield Kirsty Gagg said: “The news of Adam’s death is heartbreaking. Here at Daisyfield we are all devastated by this sad news.

“Adam was a popular member of his class, with many friends throughout school. We are all blessed to have been graced by Adam’s big heart, inviting personality and huge smile. He will be greatly missed from our school family.

“Our thoughts, prayers and wishes are sent to Adam’s family and friends at this very sad time.”

Little Harwood councillor Naushad Surve said: “Adam was a joyful character. He was a lovely and joyful boy.

“Everyone is in absolute shock in Little Harwood. A lot of his family are from here. We offer them our thoughts and prayers.

“We want to give all our support to the family. We understand they are going through a really difficult time. I would like to praise them for their dignity and the courageous way in which they have dealt with this tragic situation.”

Adam was hit by a BMW 4 Series at 10.55pm on Thursday.

Adam, who was with his father at the time, suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where he later died.

The driver of the BMW, a 25-year-old man from Blackburn, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail until October 10.

Witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting log 1712 of August 4.
