WEST Yorkshire Police's Positive Action Co-ordinator PC Amjad Ditta is taking to social media in a Force first - by using ‘Facebook Live’.
PC Ditta will be using the Force’s main corporate Facebook account to reach over 100,000 'friends' and those watching live at the time can then ask questions via the comments tool.
He will be explaining what’s involved in the recruitment process at West Yorkshire Police, along with details about the latest Positive Action Recruitment campaign.
The first broadcast will be hosted tomorrow, Thursday, at 2pm.
PC Amjad Ditta, said: "It is fantastic to have this kind of technology at our fingertips and be able to reach so many people instantly. Following the success of a series of webchats, I decided to use the Facebook Live function to answer frequently asked questions on recruitment.
"We want our police service to be diverse and representative of the communities it serves. There is some serious talent out there but I know from my 11 years with the police and speaking to many people from different communities that there are myths and preconceived ideas that are holding people back from even considering applying to join the police.
"A career in the police is really like no other and I would urge anyone wanting to find out more to please make contact with me to talk through any barriers or issues that they feel are in place which may stop them from applying to be a police officer or staff member."
