Two Asian males attacked a 13-year-old on his way to school in a park.

The boy who is white had gone to catch a bus and was walking through Corporation Park in Blackburn on Monday January 11.

The family who we are not naming to protect the identity of the teenager live off Dukes Brow in the town.

His mum told us, “His normal bus route had changed so he had to walk through the park to catch the bus to school as the new term began.

“Normally he catches the bus from Johnston Street but now he had get it from the other side of Corporation Park.

“He waited for the bus but it did not arrive so decided to make his way back home and catch a taxi. I rang him and told him to meet me at the entrance to the park.

An hour passed after not hearing from him she tried to ring him and find out where he was.

“He called me back and was upset and crying.

“In a panic I set off for the park and I found him sitting on a park bench holding his ribs.

“He said two boys had attacked him for no reason as he walked through the park.

“He was really shaken up and didn’t tell me at first what had happened.”

The incident has left the schoolboy frightened about going out.

“It has really affected him. He was off school for a week.

“I am not sure why anyone would do anything like this? It is the first time anything has happened to him.”

She added, “It was really good of a passing by Asian man to help on the day and he called the ambulance. And the police were notified.

“I visit the park regularly and I have heard of incidents but nothing like this.”

Police said no arrests have been made. Police confirmed a description of the two attackers as being Asian and wearing hoodies.
