A MAN has admitted posting online "very intimate" pictures of a former girlfriend as an act of 'revenge porn' when their relationship ended.

Raheas Ahsan, 18, put the images on social media on November 3 following the breakdown of the eight-month relationship with the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The pictures ended up being plastered on lampposts on the street in Bradford where she lived and copies were sent to member of her family, including her parents.

Ahsan pleaded guilty to a charge of disclosing private sexual photographs with intent to cause distress when he appeared in the dock at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court today.

Prosecutor Suzanne Paige told the court that Ahsan, had pleaded with the woman to talk to him two months after the relationship ended, threatening her that if she did not respond to his messages, he would put images of her on the internet.

A mutual friend of the former couple then saw a number of intimate pictures on social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.

Ahsan was said to have sent the pictures to four people, his former partner's sister-in-law and three of her friends.

The images were subsequently shared and forwarded on to others, with some copies of the pictures printed out and stuck to lampposts on the woman's home street in Bradford.

Copies were also put in an envelope and handed in to members of her family, including her parents.

Ahsan, who the court heard is studying the final year of an NVQ in Mechanics at college, was arrested and admitted the offence when interviewed by police.

Miss Paige said: "This was revenge porn of a small nature that snowballed and escalated to a larger extent."

Upkar Bahia, for Ahsan, said his client had been "angry and emotional" following the break-up of his relationship with the woman.

He said Ahsan had forwarded the pictures privately, and had expressed his "horror" when they found their way into the public domain.

Chairman of the bench, Shaun Morris-Armitage, asked for a full pre-sentence report with all options available to the magistrates, including possible committal to the Crown Court.

"This is a serious offence that will no doubt have caused lasting damage to the victim involved, and it cannot be seen as a trivial matter," Mr Morris-Armitage told Ahsan.

Ahsan, of Dewsbury Gate Road, Dewsbury, was granted conditional bail until his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, December 16.

It is only the second conviction for 'revenge pornography' in Bradford.
