A TEENAGER has admitted driving a car at group of people outside a Bradford nightclub.
Istahar Ali, 19, and co-defendant Tanweer Khan, 27, entered pleas to the seven charges they face between them when they appeared in the dock at Bradford Crown Court yesterday for a plea and case management hearing.
The charges relate to an incident at about 5am on Saturday, August 22, this year outside The Village nightclub in Sackville Street.
Ali, of Ryedale Way, Allerton, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Luke Harris, and also denied an allegation of affray.
He admitted three further charges. They were causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Luke Harris, dangerous driving, namely driving a Seat Leon dangerously in Sackville Street and Sunbridge Road, Bradford, on August 22, and assaulting James Rhodes causing actual bodily harm.
Khan, of Douglas Towers, Radwell Drive, Little Horton, Bradford, pleaded guilty to one charge of affray and not guilty to a separate charge of affray.
Prosecutor Heather Gilmour said it was alleged that there was "a prolonged period of very bad driving which culminated in Ali driving a car at a group of people, including Luke Harris".
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall adjourned the case until Thursday, December 17, to enable police to get information from hospital about Mr Harris's injuries and treatment.
The judge was also told of a letter from Mr Harris's partner describing the impact of his injuries on their family.
The court heard that Mr Harris had wanted to leave hospital after 12 weeks, and was now back at home with his partner and three children.
Judge Durham Hall said: "It is very important. I must have sufficient information from all concerned, including the hospital, about Mr Harris."
He also told Ali, dressed in a grey T-shirt and jeans, and Tanweer, wearing a grey Nike jumper and dark trousers, that he would give them credit, when sentencing, for their early guilty pleas.
Richard Canning, for Ali, said of his client: "He knows he will receive a lengthy custodial sentence measured in years."
Both defendants were further remanded in custody until their next court appearance.
