SIX people have now been arrested as part of an investigation into a hit-and-run in which a 25-year-old man died.

A 29-year-old man is the latest to be arrested as part of the probe and is currently in custody. He was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Yesterday, police issued pictures of three men they were urgently trying to find after James Gilbey was killed on Stanningley Bypass on Monday night.

Officers have now said they are no longer seeking Adnan Ahmed, who was the last person to be traced.

Earlier today, detectives today arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after he went to Havertop Lane Police Station in Wakefield this morning.

That man is understood to be Majid Mailk who was the subject of the earlier appeal.

This morning police said they had recovered two cars and arrested a three men, in addition to a man who handed himself into police last night.

The blue Volkswagen Golf involved in the incident has been recovered by police.

The car was found in Fagley Crescent, Bradford, shortly after midnight today following a call from a member of the public. A 23-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The car has now been recovered for forensic examination.

Officers also recovered a white Audi A5 in Bingley which they think was "travelling in convoy" with the Golf at the time of the collision, just before midnight on Monday.

Two men, aged 25 and 27, both from Bradford, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in relation to the Audi's involvement.

A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after he attended a Bradford police station last night remains in custody. He is thought to be Kesser Hussain, of Bradford Moor, who was named yesterday by West Yorkshire Police following the crash, which happened close to the junction with Houghley Lane.

Detective Chief Inspector Elizabeth Belton, of West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said  the recovery of the vehicles and the arrests were significant developments in the investigation.
